Anyone make extra cash? How?

Well, after my old car died, I had to get a new car. Upon re-doing my budget, I've discovered that the bare necessities cost significantly more than I get from my graduate student stipend. Worse yet, if I take another job, I lose my stipend, and I'll probably be set back several years in my studies. So I need to figure out how to make a few extra dollars every month.
So what do you guys do to fund your computer purchases?

NO SCAMS OR PYRAMID SCHEMES!!!!!!! (And no pay-to-sign-up things, either.)

In fact, to hopefully keep this thread from getting deleted, don't even post anything here... just PM me.

I made $300 in May playing poker, my goal this month is $500, and that's playing $1-$2.

I fix computers on the side, as well as working at a wheel and tire shop on weekends, $300 a weekend, really helps with the mortgage.

my dad got like 600 lbs of copper from a job at Wilbur Chocolates a couple years ago

back then my youth group stripped 200 lbs of it, and got like 115 bucks, copper was cheap then

last month i stripped 300 lbs in one night and got $600

take huge copper wire, use a razor blade to cut off the insulation, take copper to a junkyard/recycling place and they give you tax-free cash

i have about 150 lbs left to do, but it's small wires, which are a pain

Do you know if there is a website that will help us find a local drop off to turn in copper?

Just wondering, Between me and my friends, we all could scrounge up nearly 100 pounds of copper. But before we'd do this, we'd want to make sure we arn't driving 2 hours to sell this stuff.

you have this tool already, it's called a phone book
i too tried to find out online, but 3 seconds in your phone book will net you what you need, plus u get the phone number to call and ask for what they'll give you for it
look under recycling or metals

What wire do you scrap? Like insulated copper wire and then get down to just copper on the wire and give it to the place?

That's the key.

I used work for a company that decomissioned battleships, and we used to get 440v wire, and scrap it. A 8ft piece used to weigh 100lb. WE must have taken hundreds of feet.

Recently I've been writing hardware reviews for www.hardwarelogic.com, and every piece of hardware I review I get to keep, and use or sell the item. I built a testbench rig with an HSPC tech station, for free except the 74.00 the tech station cost.

for the wire i try to run the razor down the middle of it the whole way down, then pull off the insulation. Once you get the hang of it, you can go fast

I got the copper because my dad's an electrician.
This is my last post on this, so we stay on topic
