Don't get confused by the 7800's a top since they r SLi setups [wich they aren't too much of a difference]

i just picked up a x1800xt to upgrade from my x800xtpe and now i can turn on all the eye candy easily, only problem is that i only have 1GB, which now i go over. friends of mine have a 7900gt and another has a 7900gtx, the 7900gtx wins in benches but mine adn the 7900gt are very close. personally i like the x1800xt and for the price i don't think you can beat it.
