I think I need some BOINC help plz.

I'm attached to the ufluids project but I keep getting this in the BOINC messages window:
Code:
2006-06-26 20:35:25 [uFluids] Message from server: No work sent
2006-06-26 20:35:25 [uFluids] Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
2006-06-26 20:35:25 [uFluids] Message from server: Not enough disk space (only 92.0 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for minimum disk free space allowed.
2006-06-26 20:43:05 [uFluids] Message from server: No work sent
2006-06-26 20:43:05 [uFluids] Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
2006-06-26 20:43:05 [uFluids] Message from server: Not enough disk space (only 92.0 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for minimum disk free space allowed.
2006-06-26 20:43:05 [uFluids] No work from project
How do I change how much space it can use or however I fix the problem?

Can you make some more free space, Boinc usually needs to have atleast 200Mb free space on HDD to work properly, because some projects can use alot of space for caching or backuping old work that may be needed by project staff later.

Anyway if you are tight on disk space there is another solution. You can go to "your account" settings on the web -> general preferences and under "Disk and memory usage" you will see an option "Leave at least 0.1 GB disk space free", you can set it to 0.01Gb and it should work with anything higher than 10Mb.
After you change this setting you must click on "update preferences" on the button below and then open Boinc manager, on Projects tab select uFluids project and click update button. That way you will force the client to download new work settings and it should automatically start downloading new work.

I have 20gb free on that drive so theres plenty of space. I can't find a disk and memory usage, just resources priority.

Thats strange, have you tried any other Boinc projects just to see if its uFluids problem?
I would try but im not attached to uFluids project.

It said the same thing when I attached to that climate project you're doing.

*Edit: I think the clilmate one may be doing something now, but I don't know how to tell for sure(I'm such a BOINC n00b!).

To see if Boinc is actually crunching anything go to "Tasks" tab in boinc manager. There you will see WUs you have on your computer.
It should look similar to this:

Here you can see everything, progress, deadline for every WU on your computer, and its status. You can see that one climateprediction WU is running on my computer right now in parallel with one Seti WU. The rest of the seti WUs are waiting to be crunched and one is finished and its waiting to be reported to server.

Now I have another question: I noticed even though I'm attached to 3 or 4 projects on my 930, BOINC only runs one at a time. Is there a way to make it use both cores on this bad boy?

Yes, you must go to your account settings on the web - general preferences and there you will see "On multiprocessors, use at most X processors"
While X is default set at one, set it at two and then click on update preferences button.
Then open your Boinc manager and in "Projects" tab select the project in which you modified your preferences and update it. That way you will force Boinc to communicate with the project and it will automatically download new preferences and it should turn the second core.

yah... switching from F@H to BOINC is a big change in learning it, but once you learn how to get BOINC going, it's great! The next thing to learn is installing the optimized clients, (which i still can't figure out myself).

What optimized client are you trying to install Frank?
I think I can help you with that coz I have been using alot of them (Seti and Einstein) for more than a year now.

Just for the info optimized clients exist only for Seti and Einstein, and can speed up crunching dramatically. ( in Einstein I noticed about 3-4x performance jump from going to 3DNow! optimized client on my old Thunderbird, Seti SSE3 optimized client finished 2WUs in 32minutes on my Prescott while it took 2.5hours for the stock client )
But no other projects AFAIK did optimize their apps.

There is also optimized boinc core that gives you higher benchmark numbers so it fixes low claimed credit on some projects that have optimized apps.

First of all, sorry for the late response, I had some RL issues going on so I wasnt checking the forums.

Here is the newest SSE3 optimized client: http://www.zadra.org/seti_enhanced/i...a=dlview;id=14

I tried it on my prescott and it works just fine. And fast too.
