Not local for a lot of you, but I know people who take vacation and jet into Milwaukee for the Fest http://summerfest.com.

I'll be there! Too bad they raised the prices again to $15... Now I just have to figure out when people I know are going!

Kind of why I posted this out here. I've wondered how many of us have walked past each other over the years without even knowing it.

I'm going the first two days (maybe the first three) and I've got tickets for Steely Dan the second Friday. Might make it part of the second weekend, too.

15 bucks is kind of a lot, but for the amount of music you can hear, it's still a pretty good deal. Other cities' fests are much more expensive and (mostly) much lamer than the Fest. It's the beer prices that are killing me.

Bumpelage.

Because it starts tomorrow. I'll buy a beer for the first member of OCForums I actually get to meet. Unless you're under 21. Then you have to buy *me* a beer.

@ Flak: If you drag your dad down there, you can buy both of us a beer.

is that $15/day or for the whole weekend? if that's the cost for the whole weekend that's WAY better then the outrageous prices some of the music fests in the northwest charge. i think the sasquatch music festival that was held at the gorge last month cost $55/day for three days, a rip-off i think...not to mention camping/food/booze prices.

QFT

It's per day. They do have a few admisson promotions where you can get in free or at a reduced cost as well. The cost keeps going up, but it's still a good value

For those of you that have not gone to this it is always a great time!! It's not that far a drive from Chicago and I have been up there many times now. Too bad I'm having a huge party at my house that night otherwise I'd go again this year.

Also QFT.

Well, for any of you that might go, post out here for when you might be there. It runs through the 8th. GF just moved so I don't know if she has interweb yet, but I'll check regularly here at least through tomorrow morning, and then throughout the Fest.

Yeah its utterly worth the 15 bucks, but it used to be cheaper! like gas....

There is always the corporate discount for $12. But then I need to plan ahead and find someone in HR...

Traffic is going to be hell too! Yay marquette interchange! To those unfamiliar with the area I would recommend hitting up google maps or something to find the best route there. I-794 is closed going north or south bound on I-94. Westbound is still open, and if you are coming from the east, give me a ride on your boat!

Generally do not bump my own threads, but the Fest starts tomorrow so here it is.

Bump.

I'll check again later. So far we don't have a time/place or any definite plan for any of us to meet up at all. Really for me, it's just to have a chance to meet one or more of the members of this most excellent of communities, have a beer, maybe get a pic of a couple of us blowing the froth off of a cold one.

If you know you're gonna' be there, maybe do one or more of these:

1. List any acts you know you wanna' see and the day, stage, and time.
2. If you have a pic in the picture thread (or anywhere else) or your pic is your av, link or mention it.
3. Shoot me a PM and we hopefully we can work something out. I'll try to get onto the interweb when I can. Milwaukee PC used to have a booth down there, but I didn't see it last year. Hopefully, it'll be back.

The only things I wanna' see for sure the first few days are: Elvis Costello, 8:30, Briggs & Stratton stage and Marcia Ball at 11:00, Potawatomi/Specher stage. Both on Thursday. GF kinda' wants to see Harvey Scales, 7:30, M&I stage, Saturday.

Here's me and the GF.

http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=331250&page=5

People seem to notice her more than me for some reason(s). Got me...

In any case, we'll be there Thursday and Friday and probably Saturday.

EDIT: Suhweeeet! Gonna' disappear for a couple of hours-just got a delivery of season 5 of Columbo.

I made it six times. And the rest of the fests down there just don't cut it.

@ Constantinos-I did get to see Zox for a while. You're right-violin player rocks. Good drummer, too.
