Download Core Temp v0.99.7

This program that lets you monitor Intel's Core 2 and Core i7 and all AMD K8, K10 and K10.5 chips' die temperature. The temperature readings are very accurate as the data is collected from a Digital Thermal Sensor (or DTS) which is located in each individual processing core, near the hottest part.

oooo now that is neat... my software monitor is out to lunch, compared to your app.. it makes me think that my software reads one core (maybe both) then gives an average with the two combined, or something.. anyways, thanks for the cool app

Edit: see what i mean? core0 was down to 28, mine said 30. but the loads are what got me, its cool in here, for summer, and im only giveing it 1.41 in the bios.. i also noticed core1 will run a lil hotter then core0 both idle and load, dam crooked ihs lol

this thing rocks, its telling me my mount on core 0 sucks bigtime, i need to fix it asap, load temps are like 10C higher then core 1.

Thanks for the program. I noticed that my Opteron 165 under load runs one core about 10c hotter. A friend has the exact same think happen even with no IHS.

Aaah i see where i went wrong - downloaded the wrong version

However, is this accurate, cause the BIOS temp monitors report one thing, and CBID reports about 4*c higher than CoreTemp

As far as I know the sensors in the cores are calibrated, and are supposed to report accurate temps.
There's is a field that reports how "Off" the diode is, but I believe its there for the on-board sensor of the motherboard.

What I'd like to see is what the temp difference becomes when only one core is under full load, and then only the other. How hot does the idle core get compared to when both cores are idle.

I'm actually checking that right now. I've got SETI running on core 2, core 1 is idle. I've only been running it for about 5 minutes now, but core...hmm, well isn't that strange...I've assigned SETI to run on core two from the task manager, but Core Temp reports core 1 around 54C and core two around 49C...

Whats the margin of error for these sensors? Theres no way it could accurately be reading 56 degrees one second, 50 degrees the next, and 54 a second later.

Well I don't know. The margin of error probably differs from chip to chip. But you got to remember that this is not like a on-board sensor, it updates very rapidly.
What happens to the temps if you switch SETI to the other core in Task Manager?

Update:
Well I've done some reading and investigated largon's results.
It seems that the offset probably applies to the readout given by this sensor. and from what I've seen in some dumps of different chips, that offset could be as small as 1-3C (in either direction) upto over 10C.
I also had a nasty bug where it would not show any temperature below 0 that is now fixed.
I updated to build 85 with offset support and it should now show sub-zero temps, see how it works out for you.

Wow if this thing is right my temps are wayyyyy higher than I thought.

In speedfan the onl temp that changed under load went from 28C idle to 36C under load, so I assumed that was my CPU. With this, it shows 52-53C under load!

My CPU is a S754 3200+ Venice at 2475Mhz with a TT Big Typhoon.

How can I be getting that high especially with my HSF? I thought it was mounted ok, I followed all the directions on it and on AS5.

Make sure you all update to build 0.9.0.86, and NOT running 0.9.0.85 as it gives FUBAR results.

yep I have the newest version. I tightened the BT a bit and now it idles around 35C instead of ~40-42C

I'm getting wierd results.
My system is in my signature.
At idle, both cores report the same temperature +/- 1 degree and are close to MBM-5 (after adding 10C as an offset in the BIOS -- known problem for early DFI expert MBs).
BUT, when I load prime05 in both cores, one reports 55C and the other soars to 75C! (MBM-5 only goes up to 50C).
When I load 2 copies of super-pi the cooler core reports a little lower (52C) and the other core is _only_ 67C.

How can I have a difference that big when both cores are on the same die so close together? OR, does that explain why core 1 (you call it 2) is the weak core.
