Silicone or PVC tubing, pro's and con's?


Which is better, silicone or PVC?
Why? In What way?
Pro's and con's of each type?

im going to say pvc out of the 2.

silacone

easy to bend
easy to put on the barbs

cons

can be stained "i standed every set then i went to targon"
the tubeing i had kinked easy


pvc
comes in meny colors
thick wall
cheap
dosent stain like silicone

cons

isent targon
can be hard to put on some barbs

not sure on pvc, isnt it stiff? silicone is nice. super flexible, maybe even more so than tygon. ive never seen it totally clear, but it does come transluscent. usually opaque tho. it does have a bad problem with vapor exchange tho. youll need to refill//top-off the loop alot more often if your using silicone over something like tygon.

Tygon doesn't say on their site what the tubing is made of. I'd speculate a polyurethane based plastic though. As for tubing, it depends on how long a piece of string is. I've not used silicone tubing, only various types of PVC. Your average home despot / B&Q store carries less than decent stuff. goes hard after a few months, maybe a bit misty, kinks easy. I've just got some thicker walled stuff today (see under my UK suppliers post) which I'm going to be trying out soon.
