Problem with Nvidia 7600gt

Hi~

I have a problem with my video card and a friend told me that I might find help here, so I'm giving it a try~

Anyhow, this is my problem:

I recently bought and put up together a pc, specs:

- Nvidia 7600gt
- 1 gb corsair value
- 160 gb hitachi sata 3.0
- Amd 3500+
- Asus a8n-e motherboard

Now, what is the problem? the friend that told me about this site has a Pc that's worse than mine but he gets more fps~ besides, for some reason when I'm playing CS (even tho it's running at 100fps) i freeze for 2 or 3 secs everytime i run into someone -___-!

So far the things I've tried are:

- Uninstalled the drivers, use driver cleaner and install them again using the lastest installer from the website (not the one from the cD)
- Playing with the setting.

Anyone has suggestions?

What is your resolution? How much crap do you have running in the background (AV, Spyware scanners, Nero, Adobe, affice, etc.)?

What kind of temps are you getting and are you O.C.ing the card? Also What brand and specs on your PSU.

Im playing on 800x600 atm and i get 100fps, but i keep freezing whenever there are more than 3 ppl in the screen or someone jumps in front of me -___-! (this is on CS)

Another game i play is KnightOnline, the friends i talked about that has a worse pc than mine, gets 115 fps on the normal game and around 30 when frapping at 1024x768 resolution. In the other hand i get 70 - 80 fps on normal game and 7 - 11 fps when frapping at 1024x768 resolution (all this using GameCam).

About what else i got running~ it'd be Ventrilo, msn and winamp~ that's it.

You can use software to check temps, I use Rivatuner, You can also use Coolbits. Many video cards these days come with software for checking temps included in the software.

O.C.ing simply means Overclocking your video card, Doesn't sound like that is the issue. When you overclock the video card you get better performance but the temps also usually increase.

Psu is the power supply, If it doesn't supply enough juice to properly power your computer it can cause many different issue's including instability. You can open the side of your case and there should be a sticker on the side of the power supply ( Usually top left corner of case) It should tell you the brand and the specifications for that particular model such as how many watts, How many amps supplied to the 12v rail, etc.

Both my 7600Gt's run at ~50C load ith stock cooling and 1 120mm blowing fresh air into them, those temps seem ok (what's is 115C?).

it's not the PSU, temps are fine, I'd bet it's a software issue

What do you have running in the background and how many processes are currently running, also what version drivers are you running?

Here I'm half a year later~ still having the same problem =/

It HAS to be a software issue, BUT~ I'm currently using the lastest driver on the website and I just don't know what else to do, any suggestions? o.O

If any, I was thinking about buying a brand new computer xD

Cuz the one I got right now lags like crazy when I have some game open and I try using my FireFox or Adobe.

Anyone here wanna give out some especs?

We are talking about a 1400$ budget for a PC ment to be used for gaming and editing (video and image editing while having games open).

>_>!

Or should I try buying 2 more GBs of ram to my current system and see how it works after that.

Well the question posted above is a good one. Are you using on board sound or a separate sound card? I have two 7600gt's running in sli and never have a problem running anything. I decided that a sound blaster 16 was better than trying using on board sound, and by doing that I freed up system resources. Have you tried running memtest or prime95? You may have a memory problem not necessarily a video card problem?

Michael

I tried disabling the onboard sound card to see if that may be the cause of it, but the result was the same so I kinda gave up on the whole idea. Do u recomend me getting a Sound Blaster 16 and see how it works?

Boy this may be way out of line but we tend to look at things pretty in depth here and not tward the obvious..... what type of connection do you have at home. DSL, fiber, Dialup??? And... are you turning off all your firewalls, norton, spyware filters ext. ext........ that could be bottlenecking your connection. Also, you should really know how many processes your running in the background..... download spybot search and destroy and get rid of all start ups that you don't need.... also, make sure that you have the latest bios version. I know that this is alot of info, but I'm convinced that your issue is caused by something that is just being overlooked. Check all these things and let us know.

Hope this helps.

My connection is DSL (3 mb/s, I stop having the problem with CS -It kept on freezing cuz i was on wireless, not that im wired it runs fine-). All Firewalls are off and I don't even use an anti-virus, and about processes running on the background i just do : Run ~ msconfig and pretty much disable everything =/

About BIOS lastest version... If u mean the one from the mainboard, I just go with the CD~ I use the lastest driver from the website for the Video Card tho.

If anything, the only thing that's being overlooked would be this:

I'm gonna try buying another 2 GB's of ram and a Sound Card >.<!
