how to ship a woofer


...no..not a dog

so my 15 lb Dayton 12" DVC sub took a crap recently..and they're not sure if it will even be covered under warranty...

so how much am i looking at to ship it one state over?
where should i go to ship this. I dont have a box of my own to use, but i do have packing material..
simply put, i want it there as cheap as possible, what are my options

You want to be careful not to damage the woofer. Peanuts and stuffing materials can push on the cone and cause damage. Buy a box close to the size you need. Take a square of cardboard the size of the boxand make a hole it to fit the magnet. This will keep the speaker from moving around to much. Then use cardboard squares on top and bottom of the speaker. These will reinforce the box to prevent damage and the woofer coming out. Then I recommend pricing the package at the USPS, FEDEX and USPS sites before going anywhere.

UPS, they can pack it for you and insure it, but it may not be cheap
