rosewill 450w psu 12v at 18v


pc wizard syas my 12v rail is at 18.04v
i moved my pc to other rooms same problem, i checkt he psu on another computer and its just fine. i had the same problem with the same psu, which i rma'd. got this one back and the same problem. DO NOT BUY ROSEWILL. i went cheap and i got what i payed for

What happened when you tried another PSU in that computer? PC Wizard had to be wrong because 18.04V would have burned out some or all of the stuff that ran from the +12V rail, provided that the PSU's overvoltage protection didn't kick in first. But every PSU I've checked, even cheapos, contained overvoltage protection, often in a special chip made especially for that protection, although I've never tested it for the +12V rail.

Fortron-Source is so cheap that I don't see any reason to take risks with unknown brands.

I would not trust those readings unless they are taken with a multi-meter. Software readings =WRONG!
