ABIT AB9-PRO/e6400

im in the middle of updating the bios with the 530j atm. as soon as i get things worked out and i find a digi cam. i will have pics of the bios and some ocing if possible. im hoping the allendale gets a higher fsb the fugger at xs has gotten. atm fugger on bios11 has done 350fsb but keep in mind he is using a x6800 not e6400. if the cores do make a difference for ocing we shall soon see.

*edited* 10-14
OMG WOOT
finally over the 300mhz fsb wall with my c4's

due my best but atm if the 350 is the limit as after seeing the fsb portion and seeing the 400fsb as the limit. we are indeed in need of better bios's, though the bios10 is the portion i saw. I need to check out the bios11, i just hope my dothan w2k install will work. i would hate to have to install win2k agian, just want to mess with atm.

god damn this thing is a pita. telling the mobo to have the usb handled by the bios results in having to reset the cmos. my c4's boot up in the board just fine with bios11 never tried 10. it boots up and says mem is running ddr2-667 instead of 800. tring to manually set any cpu or ddr voltage does not stick at all. after a restart its set back to auto. Changing any timings with the ram , is a cmos reset. i have lost track of how many cmos resets i have done. little frustrated, i wanted to oc a bit. i do have it up and runng just had to be cool with the changing settings. maybe i should talk to fugger to see what he did. well off to pm him.

after countless switching ram and disabling different things tring to oc. this thing hangs on post after setting any fsb higher the the 266. i got it to post @333fsb but it just sat there staring at me. im hoping fugger gets a new beta bios soon. fugger says he has no problems ocing so i really dont know what else it could be going on here. except for the fact of different ram, but i have tried single stick only of teh c4's and the ocz gold stuff i have. no oc on either, i do have bios ss's so let me get those uploaded.

I went through a similar waiting period for BIOS updates when I first got my AW8. It didn't like my high dollar low latency OCZ RAM at first, so I had to use crappy RAM for a while. Kind of sucks. Seems like a common Abit problem nowadays about RAM and memory ratio issues needing fixed by a new BIOS update. They will eventually get it sorted out. Anyway, stay in good standing with the folks at XS. I saw you posting in Fugger's thread. Sounds like a couple of them have a line on beta BIOS files. When they get it, beg and plead with them, they'll take pity on you.

bios 13 get it here
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...42#post1650042
see post #234 how to dl the real bios.

atm still on bios11 fresh install of windows xp pro.
with out windows updates the setup in uguru gives me errors. mem is currently @533 4-4-4-12 with the ocz golds. hopefully bios13 will fix alot of memory related problems and allow the voltage to stick when changed on the cpu. atm the only way i could oc was using the presets in the uguru, fsb @293 really low but it upped the voltage to the cpu to 1.4v i was like wtf small oc with lots of voltage.

i really wish i knew how others are getting 300+ fsb ocs. no setting changes makes a difference here. i used these same voltage setting in bios11 and 13 and well nothing.

vcore 1.4 (bios) more like 1.18-1.38v
ddr2-v 2.2v
mch 1.45 (max in bios)
ichio 1.6v

after retring fsb and moving in smaller amounts the problem is actaull at 310-315fsb. 300 is rock solid with 310 sometimes stable sometimes not. any higher then 310 results in the above mentioned lockup reset. 800fsb ratio does not work with c4's for some reason, evertime i set 800 ram ratio it restarts and blank screen. It is fine with 533 (1:1), i tried 667 ratio with it sometimes stable. might be a bug with them using the same bios for ab9 and pro's. i guess i just have to wait for a offical ab9 pro bios. i did try your setting but no luck, then different timeings with same issue.

You have seen this, right? Everything but 800 ratio and you are screwed, and if 800 doesn't work for you.. well then..

I don't know if that applies to every AB9/memory combination but I know it applies to me and my AB9/Xtreem 667. Basically I'm waiting for Abit to fix it, before that, I can't do more than 300-320.

no i didnt see that but its dated 8-04 and well im using the beta bios13 that was posted over at xs. thanks for the link this just mean that in bios13 the 800 ram ratio still does not work. so yea im still stuck at 300, setting to 800 ratio still does what i said above.

well one thing that slipped my mind i thought i tried the ocz gold 667 ram at 800 but i didnt. I tried and it booted with 800fsb ratio, now i need to test how stable the ram is with what voltage. it does not seem to like high volts but im not sure if its the ram or just the speed/voltage is not high enough. off to run some memtest. it is funny how the c4's dont run with 800 ratio as at ddr533 and checking cpuz under the ram is says the c4's can do 533fsb or 1066 @5-5-5-12. this makes me wonder though as the ocz golds work at 800fsb is it the mobo not allowing this ram to work currectly with the said voltage or is the ram. i guess i will have to run memtest on the c4's and adjust the voltage to about 1.9v or lower need to find out if the ram is the problem. With out being able to use the 800 ratio, i am not able to test at specced speeds. at looking at a few sigs of people with ab9's some have the c4-pro's, the only thing the pro adds are leds to the sticks. how could this be that much different to not allow me to post with the 800 ratio.

posted pic of what i could get dual 32m stable. tried ever setting to get 300mhz stable with dual 32m but it resulted in restarts everytime. i hope a bios update is soon. just as proof the cpu is not cause problems with 300mhz on this board i used crystal-cpuid to lower the voltage below the 1.325 in the bios. uguru read 1.12v @2.2ghz and was stable i did not how ever get a ss nor did i try dual 32m superpi. was just messing around to see if crystal cpu voltage control would work. i say stable as it was dual fah while i was at work for about 6-8hrs.
