Watched it last night on dvd..
What a performance by Natalie Portman.
Those Wachowski brothers know how to make good movies.

Yeah i quite liked it too, and not just because Natalie Portman did the whole schoolgirl outfit thing

It was kind of eerie though, cause I can actually see the events depicted as being worryingly realistic enough to actually happen...

I loved the film, it was great. I also love how they never really told you who V was.

This movie is awesome. I think Hugo Weaving really made this movie, even more than Natalie Portman. He just sells V so incredibly well. The only two spots in the movie that I didn't care for were the effects with the falling rain and the final fight. Definately could have done without the slomo stuff. Other than those five or so minutes in the movie, it was superbly done.

Sorry, guys. I agree with Alan Moore's take on the movie. He wanted nothing to do with it. The comic is a much more rich, full experience of the idea. When I left the movie I felt like the brothers W. had really glossed over many of the important themes of the book. Also, I didn't like that they toned town the contraversial aspects of the film.

I like what Salon said:
Quote:
Both oversimplifies and overcomplicates Moore's and Lloyd's vision, but it never cuts to the bone. It's a movie drawn with big, bold strokes and very little feeling -- a tracing-paper exercise masquerading as a masterpiece.

well I blame you guys for all my spending first with computers now with this. I had been toying around the idea of reading the actual graphic novel, and well, I just bought it on Amazon. 16 some odd dollars. Be here the end of the week.

The graphic novel is different to the film, the only thing that stays in both, is the main character of V :/

Loved it, also. So many movies these days are about the same old thing. This movie was really creative and well done. Acting was superb, both Natalie Portman and the rest of the cast.

Showing the face would have completely destroyed the dominant-ideology-challenging aspect of the movie.

My aunt watched the movie with me and my cousin and sat behind us. Bless her soul she has never been one to think and find the deeper meanings in life, so she reacted as such.

"This movie was so Anti-American. The leftwing democrats are just trying to take cheapshots at us now."

"And I hated how we never got to see his face!"

I tried to show her how we can always find a parallel to specific events in life, but urged her to try applying it to everything in hers. I really think she failed to gain one ounce of important information from this film...not to mention remember that it was a film. We're Italian, so some of you might be able to understand me when I say that "she kept on going, and did NOT shut up."

Great film. Highly Recommended.

I thought it was fantastic when I saw it. Hugo Weaving really made the movie w/ his portrayal of V. That, and I think we've finally found a vehicle for Hugo Weaving where he isn't Agent Smith

He was almost always wearing the mask, though. So I'll still see him as Agent Smith or the elf king.
