NoL's Inline Chiller

A copy over from OC3D enjoy.
Okay guys promise pics but not of the chiller just yet.
The chiller is currently vacuuming.
I threw this together because I need a little money, so it'll be forsale here soon enough!

The chiller is INLINE and will hopefully have a quick puldown while being quite quiet.

Parts in the unit:

Embraco 1/4hp Reciprocating (Brand new I= , Wallet= )
1-Row Shrouded and Powder-coated 120mm Condenser
A H-50 Heat exchanger

I also got to test out my new pipe-bender, :wavey: :yumyum:

And for the first batch of pics, here's the electronics box in the making!

The wait is over folks! Pictures here and front page. But some bad news as well. NoL (me) screwed up the chiller. Not able to find the PDF I geussed on suction and discharge ports, as there right next to each other, I seem to have geussed wrong...

Within a few seconds the filter and high side was ICING!
So it works, just backwards!

After I get back from SAT class @ 9 oclock tonight I'm going to drain it of refrigerant, swap the ports with a bit of tube bending, then restart the vacuuming.

Also, I forgot the electrical box so no pics of that just yet, I gotta pick that up at my dads again.
So results delayed, but PICTURES STILL!

looking good there Nol however it would appear your HX is going to have a very high Dt and thus coil freezing will be a serious issue for you, ideally you want your coil to be large to drive down immediate Dt thus effectively cooling the liquid with out freezing it. Other then the primary heat exchanger issue the rest looks great.

Another recommendation since you are not using a TXV nor a pump down cycle you'll really want to put an accumulator in there so you don't slug the compressor

The way the HX is setup it would be hard to freeze the liquid in a inline chiller due to no resevoir or stagnent liquid. I doubt it'll freeze. Also the concern about liquid into compressor, we'll see but I have a fealing it wont make it past the evap.
