VF900 on a 7900gt

what an awsome vga cooler to put it simply. One of the very few that fit onto a 7900gt at the moment and wow ... its music to my ears. The stock 7900gt fan is soo incredibly loud i think its actually possible you could go insane. This dropped the sound levels coming from the video card to practically nothing. The fans noise now blends in with the rest of the case.(case fans, psu fan, hsf)

Also on a sidenote it comes with a fan speed controller.

Ok, so the real test. Does the fan suffeciently cool the gpu on lowest rpm setting.

YES IT DOES!!!.. while playing doom3 i maxed out at 67 degrees celcius. WOW!

On highest rpm I max out at 59degree celcius! woooot thats awsome.

I will be OC this card when I finish dl 3dmark. System specs are in sig.

Heres some pics that I took.

Can you use the PCI slot next to your PCIe slot?

I am still looking for an aftermarket cooler for my 7900GT that is a "single slot solution" any reccomendations?

Also if you liked that zalman HSF, Gigabyte has released a new series of 7900GTs that come with zalman HSFs 'stock' so you dont need to buy an aftermarket cooler!

honestly it all depends on your mobo and what tyupe of pci card your putting into that slot.

On my DFI lanparty board, the pci card right under the pci-e would be a tight fit and i would not recomend putting anything in that slot since the fan on the HSF must suck in air.

Thanks for the tip on the gigabytes.

UPDATE-

Ohhhhh baby. AS5 has settled in and warmed up the the gpu. My temps were way of before. Heres the new stuff.

The screenshot says it all. Except for the OC ofcourse.

542/802 (or 542/1604) OC. No voltage mod.

Temps never went over 56celcius!

YOU DID NOT SET THE VF900 ON ITS BASE ON A TABLE.... WTF YOU THINKING destoying a base as perfect as thoes things have

I have a VF900-CU LED on my 7900gt KO 512mb.... MMMMM SOOO NICE... 38*C idiling right now... i got to reseat it the first time i put it on it was crooked and i didnt put on new AS5.... but i havnt seen a temp over 52*C

I honestly dont think there are any good single slot solutions... the VF900 is the best IMO... i mean it only takes up the slot below the card... but then you need to leave a slot below that for air flow... so your looking at 3 slots total (GFX card, cooler, breather slot)

Before I went to watercooling, I had a vf900cu and it was indeed an awesome cooler. I highly recommend it.

Not so hot for the x1900s.

Those vid cards pwn the vf900.

Wish I did more research before getting one. Of course a lot of reviews claimed it was better than stock.

Disable the internal clock test on the power users tab. Put a "1" in the disableinteralclock (this may not be exace but something similar) test field. It may not pass the test but you still may not see artifacts or you may, try it!

I read the volt mod tutorials around the net and really.. i doubt ill even try because im just that lazy. I dont need my 7900gt to run any faster than it is right now. every game ive thrown at it runs perfect.

You should try the 0.2 volt or or even 0.3 volt mod and try to overclock some more. You could get 50-80 or so extra MHz out of your core.

With the 0.35 volt mod on my 7900GT KO I have a 175MHz core overclock, but I'm watercooled.

lol i really dont need to overclock my 7900gt... handels all games i play at todally maxxed settings with bagillons of FPS... i may look into popin my stock E6600 hs on it tho... it would be quite easy... measure the holes and tap the steel.

That's weird. I can push my core to about 590 until it becomes unstable. I have it backed off a bit just for reasurance. A common problem is the ram topping out at 800/1600 though so that's a nice OC anyway!

Ok i just ran 3dmark06 with my system (see siggy) and grabbed 5503pts.... 3900 seems quite low... something is wrong.... although my cpu score is twice that of yours but everything else is close... check attachment. My card is however a 7900gt KO 512mb (560/1550 stock)
