PC no bootie

About 6 months ago I built a pc for a mate of mine with the following spec:

Amd Athlon64 X2 4800+ (Socket 939)
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
4GB OCZ Value DDR RAM (4 x 1GB)
XFX 7600GT
Plextor DVD drive - SATA
2 x Western Digital Caviar 200GB (RAID 0 -- 400GB)
OCZ PSU 520Watt (12v - 28Amps)

Recently he had some booting problems including an error message sayin that a "NTOSKRNL.exe" file was missing or corrupt, but the machine would still eventually boot into windows. Now a few days later the machine will not boot at all, even the Bios screen will not appear. I have tryed removing the Bios battery for 30mins and resetting it using the jumpers but with no sucess.
Tryed re-seating the graphics and the ram, but still no luck.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before or have any ideas ?

There's this: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000646.htm

Or maybe Windows recovery console off the Win CD: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058/

I was wondering if maybe a virus could have caused it? Did you get to try a restore before Windows gave out?

That does not sound good if the BIOS won't even appear, sounds like one of the components has failed.
What were the temps reading before it died?

I've only seen that NTOSKRNL message at boot when pushing an overclock too far.
