thats a tough one, he wont get better performance for under 200$.

Let me think about a good choice.

If he pumps out $197, then I can get him a 7900gs... how's that sound?

yeah I'd say that GS KO is a good choice for that price. eVGA is the best IMO.

If you are able to pony up a little more money, the 7900GT is the best bet for price/performance, but if not the GS is a good card also for price/performance.

EDIT: BTW, I really don't think that SLI 6600GT's will really make you happy enough for the money. a single 7900GS will probably out do them. So sell the 6600GT and get a 7900GS or GT if possible

We already have the 6600GT's from my computer... I just purchased 2 7900 GTO's... ;) I'm trying to get him to spend 50 bucks more and get a 7900GTO... that would rock a 7900 GT or GS... =) he just wants to be able to play the new rainbow six and stuff.

What wait, x1900 256s are already out.

Sell the 6600s ($50 each at least?) and get a 7900gs, or a x1900 256MB or 7900GTO, the last is an incredible deal for ~$260 as you already know ;)

I'd have a really hard time justifying $215 for a 7900gs personally when this is available for a little more and would be a massive improvement: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130065 or an x1900xt 256MB. I know there's always something better for more except in this case it's a huge difference but a 7900gs would make sense if the budget was really strict, I would just go cheap if that was the case and get one of the $200 ones ;)

Damn those are cheap in the states! I'll have to consider that as a christmas present. I don't even play that many games on my computer. It would just make me FEEL GOOD knowing it was there...
