Vista RC1 How Long??

I have been thinking about switching over to Vista RC1 from Xpsp2.
Was wondering how long the trial version is good for?
Is it like the old Xp64 Rc1 where it is good for a year??
Do current DirectX 9c games work on it or does it already have the
DirectX 10?
Let me know what you guys think of it as I have read countless numbers of nightmare reports but there must be some good things about it to.
I really only want it for playing games, watch DVD's and HD-DVD's,burning crap, and maybe surf the net every now and then...

hmmm well for the system in your sig you will avoid many problems. The biggest problem is the Vista x64 is a P I T A to install if you have a raid setup. Y will have no problem with your hard drive setup though. Also there is no SLI as of yet but again you avoid that also, with only one card. Some people say that the current sound drivers do not have support for suround sound. So I say go for it But I would suggest creating a dual boot system because you will not be able to upgrade to the release of vista nore downgrade to XP when the trial is over. If you download RC1 from the vista site and use the key they send to your e-mail than just install it from XP (must be Vist x86 if you have XP x86) and it will creat dual boot for you. Astheticly the OS is amazing and imho I think it is a breez to navagate. The RC1 will be good untill may 7 2007 iirc. btw im on Vista RC1 x64 right now and love it, hate to admit it but "dollar" Bill Gates and M$ did a good job ....I think....

Keep a install of XP ready just incase you need it. I have been using Vista RC1 about a month now (though my DVD copy of RC1 showed up in the mail yesterday ) and I only boot into XP every few days. Most of the boots into XP is to burn a disk, otherwise, Vista is in good shape.

question may be someone can answer. I have an Audigy 2 ZS card and I found the 32 bit Vista RC1 beta driver which works fine but I see it is only good for 1mth?? What is one suppose to do after that uninstall/reinstall?? Anyone in similar situation?

I am not sure it is really upto M$, but the responcibility of the software makers to make a Vista capable burning program. I read somewhere that Nero has a Vista compatible version in beta... but I havent seen it yet. Alot of the software makers have told customers to sit on it till Vista is offically released.

umm - I have downloaded Vista X64 3 times now and tried multiple burns but Everytime the exe wont run. Its like when you get a corupt file.

Maybe its just that you cant go from XPSP2 to VISTAX64?

Im running 5728 now.. I have a dual boot because TV out doesnt work on my vid card so I run MCE for watching movies... and using my webcam. Everything else (including burning disks I do with Vista).
Its great and combined with the B2TR of Office, I got everything I need (I didnt even to load printer drivers for my laser )
