Video combiner

I'm looking for a pretty simple program, i've googled and looked around but i wind up with a little trial that brings in spyware and seems junky. I need a program to combine video files like .avi .wmv. It also has to support .avis enconded with Divx. It can be free or cost something, but free is better. The more file formats it supports the better, but im usually just going to combine encoded .avi files. I've been using Movietoolbox. It seems ok but sometimes it randomly cant combine files.

virtualdub is made for avi's. and avidemux helps with the avi's that have odd audio bitrates which vdub can't import. both free & quite simple.
