hey guyz, one of my friend is having problems with taking out Win xp pro 64.it only gives him a option of reinstalling windows xp.he wants to reformat .any suggestions of how to start over fresh.sorry i am a noob.and how to go about it

wont let him delete the partition. because windows put temp install files or something like that..

delete some system files needed to run then the reboot
until you get a message XXXXX.XXX is missing ctrl+alt+del to reboot

then it should install

but it dosnt let him delete the partition.he has tried that.what if he does it thru command prompt like format c:\ .

You could boot from a HD utility disk and delete the partition and format form there. You should be able to delete and format partitons from the XP bootbale CD though, I have done it before plenty of times.
