Computer Not Booting Up Please Help

Hi,

Today I just replaced my faulty power supply it was making noise

And when I plugged everything back into my computer it would not boot.

All it does is when I press the power button is that the cpu fan spins a lil and instantly stops.

check the P4 connector if holes/latch not lined up correctly this will happen. is this psu bigger or same size as the one it replaced?

unplugg everything from psu and hardwire the psu "on" to see if it just spins for 5secs like when plugged in.

Well not posting you never know. He shouldn't have to but it takes 30 seconds to elimnate it.

If the PSU work (which I don't know how to hardwire it either), then take everything out of the case and try it caseless.

I try not to reset CMOS ever,,, simply cuz its a biatch to reset everything.

Jumping the PSU is good idea, to eliminate that. (short pin 14 and 15 on the ATX cable.. IE green and black NEVER EVER anything other then black when shorting. black is ground ) I usually pop a staple out of my staple gun... straigten it arounfd a pair of needle nose so its U shaped and drop that in... EDIT: I use the needle nose to put it in!! Dont touch it electrical shock and blah blah blah(works well

Running your PC naked is the next step. (run only main HDD no opticals, no floppy ,no PCI cards that are not needed for booting.

Can even go down to one stick ram... although at that point I usually just reset cmos instead...

The fact that you are not posting pretty much elimates the bios needing reset..defintely a power issue .even a dead cmos battery reboot wil just take you to a "default bios loaded " screen...

Disconnect your atx connecter then look for the green wire there is only one connect this to ground any of the black wires i use a paper clip to make the connection this will switch your psu on.

EDIT NeurOmancer beat me to it.
