I'm torn!

I'm torn between getting a gamecube, Athlon XP chip and mb, or a new 1.3ghz Tb setup for Christmas. I already have the case and everything but there's a 900mhz duron in there right now. If i go XP and mb then I'll need a new case and hdd and cdrom and cheap video card for my duron set up which will probably take me 3-6months to get. If i get the tb system I'll have one .9ghz duron sysytem and a 1.3ghz tb system right at Christmas. Then if I go with gamecube I'll have my Duron system. What do you all suggest. Don't be too biased to folding either

I never was a real fan of Metal Gear Solid. I don't know why but i never got into it much. Anyway i was kinda leaning toward the XP chip too if i decide to go that route but i'm not sure. GC looks tempting but then again so does a new rig.

I guess it depends on what you want.

This isn't an easy choice, even forgetting about folding. With the XP you'll have a faster system overall. That's a benefit all by itself.
But I might be inclined to go with the game console, although my own personal preference would be something else. But tastes vary as you can see by walking into Best Buy where they have PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, GC, GB, XBOX all stacked up next to a row of PC games. I'd say go with what you want for you.

As for getting systems just for a DC project...
It's fine as long as you can afford it. I was going to say more about this but I'll leave it at that.

That's the problem i want both! lol why can't i have both? j/k. I decided that with the new "Hammer" chips coming out first half of next year I'll wait and get one of those. For now I'll go with the GameCube, best choice in my opinion. and for all those ppl that say there aren't any hardcore games coming for it 1)I'd rather play Halo or another game like it on a comp even though it won't have quiite as good graphics it'll still be awesome with the card i'll get. 2)Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness are coming and i think it's just the beggining. I may be wrong on this but I'm willing to take the chance.

Also, I'd never use the DVD player because my parents already have one(i wouldn't use it even if they didn't). And it's $100 less! One last thing, is it true that the xbox comes with a recovery cd? I'm sorry but if it's true that scares me lol. I know it has a hdd and it's bound to crash but still...

Oh i forgot something, the computers i build are NEVER just for DC projects. Do you think that a 15 highschool sophmore has that kinda $$? I know i have some $$ but that's because i work my butt off at my job(which sucks). All the comps i buy are either inline for someone to buy(another way of earning a little) or a needed improvement. In this case yes i was going to have an extra system but it was going to be low cost, partly covrered by Christmas $$/gifts, and there for me instead of my mom(always using the comp). It also would be nice for LAN parties at my house when several of my friends' comps can't even play starcraft.

I was thinking the same thing. The new chips they are coming out with look awesome.

Nintendo always has good games and it's a nice looking system. Not sure what's up with the xbox. A recovery CD would scare me too and there's been some reports of crashes. They'll get it sorted out eventually, but for now??
