Lite-On to Exit Consumer Device Market

DigiTimes reports Lite-On is pulling out of the consumer market sectors. This includes all retail products sold under the Lite-On brand including optical disk drives and DVD recorders. This comes a few months after BenQ announced Lite-On would take over its optical storage product manufacturing.

It's just for their branded set-top style stand-alone devices. Probably the average schmoe buying them doesn't have a clue who Lite-On is then they go and by another brand that has Lite-On hardware anyway so Lite-On wasn't getting good sales numbers from their own branded products. They'll still make drives for computers at least as an OEM for other companies if not under their own name as well.

ok so they will no longer be Lite-On, instead it will all be Benq?

I like both companies and have no complaints.
