Final Fantasy 12 [spoilers page 2]

Is it just me or do the graphics look worse than in FFX?
It looks like they went with the FF8 customizations as well, which are crapy imo...I was hoping for another FFX

ive played the demo and teh graphics look better than that picture and it seems like a really good game from what parts that ive have played. the battel system has been redone and is kind of cool in a way.

I have the game and I think it is freaking amazing. I am pretty sure that the cinematics are done with the same cgi as the final fantasy VII movie. Also, that screen shot is terrible, in game graphics are a lot better than that.

From what I've heard, the story is very good and is the most mature of the series. I'll probably be picking this up tomorrow (if they have any).

So far its been very good. Only @ 2 hours in though.

Graphics wise, go /whine somewhere else. The ps2 is ancient. Seems they had to pick and choose where to put the detail. Faces have good detail, whie terrain is lacking. Sitting still its easy to pick out stuff that isn't pretty, but the motions are very fluid. Everything looks better while moving, which is what you are doing pretty much all of the time.

Combat feels a lot like FFXI, but much faster and the story/world feels much better.

Picked it up at the midnight release, and I absolutely LOVE IT! Played for 3 hours, and hit the sack, had to work in the morning But it looks fantastic even on my aging Direct View TV, and the story line so far is by far the best premise I have seen in ANY FF game to date, that and the art style if simply amazing

I'm surprised to hear everyone liking the story, from what I have heard the story wasn't very good and the main character is shallow. I hear the new fighting system is really cool...but that you end up doing nothing but melee attacks all the time. From what I have seen though the graphics do look pretty good...the enemies look pretty original.

wow, i'm suprised people are complaining about the graphics NOW.

it has been said over a YEAR ago, that Square decided to use almost Half ( not quite half ) the polygons in the characters than they did in FFX.

i'm tempted to pick this up myself. but i need to hear some reviews on it, and hear how good the story is.

and god, i could only hope its more like FF8, and less like FFX.

I read awhile back that for Square to push the graphics, they raised texture levels while decreasing resolution. It didn't sound like a good idea at the time.

I picked up it up today before school just so I would get one before they ran out. They still had a wall full of CE's, though. Very nice metal case.

why would they do that? and what didn't you like about FFX, it was awesome D:
Hardcore FF fans say it was bad but it was my first FF game, and I tried FF7 and 8 afterwards and couldn't enjoy them as much.

Check out the great review at gametrailers

From the sound of that, it doesn't seem that great.

I watched that earlier today Red and thought the same thing....it's probably not a bad game, but the negatives were gameplay and story...which is what an RPG mostly is built on...if the game is repedative to play why do I care how good the music score is....I dunno my roomate will probably pick this up eventually so maybe I'll try it then if she does buy it.

Hmmm, I'm thinking about picking this up. Just need to dig out my PS2 out of the closet.

I don't remember but does PS2 support HD and if yes has anyone played it on HDTV?

Picked up a copy and gave it a go on the 2407. It didn't look too crisp, but it does support 16:9 widescreen! Maybe I can make it look nicer if I check out the settings more though.

well, the PS2 WILL do progressive scan. can't remember off hand at what resolution. But i'd bet its at 480p.

And its the GAMES what will dictate wheather it will use Progressive scan or not, not the console itself.

And the reason some people give it a low score on the Story, is the fact that your main character isn't charted with the quest to save the world, as we are all used to. The game is much more political in terms of the story. The reason is that the people who made the story for Final Fantasy Tactics, and vagrant story created the story for FFXII. Basicly, for those who loved the type of story that FF Tactics gave, you should like this story as well.

and i LOVED FF tactics! the story was great! very in-debth, and could get quite confusing at times. Simply because the game is more political, and the story makers of tactics wrote the story for 12, i REALLY want to play this game now!

so make sure you check the back of the box, and on the bottom where it tells you how many players it is, and how much space it uses on memory cards, it will also tell you if its progressive scan capable or not.

and like firside said, some games will allow the full use of a Widescreen. But some won't, again you have to check the back of the Game's box to find out.

And yes, square did use nearly half the polygon count on FFXII compaired to FFX, so they could increase the texture detail, and use less space so they could fill the game with a bit more content, such as flashier spells, more different looking monsters, and naturally, more FMV's.
