Need help on a SI-128 on Gigabyte mobo

Ok, so I have the CPU in the mobo with some grease on it.

I then installed the heatsink on top of it (was a little bit of a PITA, but I got it).

Questions though. When I put the motherboard in the case (now, I have the pipes from the heatsink closest to the RAM slots as what is pictured on the installation instructions). The problem im having is that in my case, there is a 120mm fan in the back and It is getting in the way of the heatsink going farther back and getting my mobo flushley mounted with the connecters facing properly out the back ( VGA, serial, LAN etc.).

Is there something I am missing? did I do somethign wrong?

Thanks,

Sektor

Ok...more info.

I am using a Gigabyte DS3 motherboard for a C2D E6600.
My case is a coolermaster centurian mid-tower.

I was able to get the mobo in with heatsink attached, but I had to remove the 120mm fan on the back.

Looking at my older AMD case, I see the placement of the CPU on the ASUS mobo is more centralized, where the placement of the CPU on the Gigabyte board is more left, towards the back...

So it is in, but I don't have a 120mm fan on the back.

Any suggestions?

I'm a little deflated right now.

thanks.

I am thinking I might need a full tower...

Any comments on that?

The power supply is directly above the SI-128 with about 2-2/12 inches clearance. I don't have a 120mm fan in the back, just a 80mm fan in the front. I have a 120mm fan on top of the heatsink...

I'm just wondering if I should go with something bigger.

Granted, I am also going to be putting a HR-03 VGA cooler on my x1900xt card as well.

Im concerned about cooling the inside of the case and now room.

I really appreciate help and feedback here.

Thanks,

The SI-128 is asymmetrical, correct? (Base is closer to the heatpipe bend side of the assembly.) If so, then just turn it around so that the bends are on the other side.

Not sure. I just mounted it as it was shown on the installation instructions.

I pretty much decided I need a full tower case. I am going to need the extra space.
