Did you edit client.cfg with wordpad? If so, it destroyed client.cfg and you're folding for annonymous and team 0. You must use Notepad or a applet like Metapad, or Notetab to edit client.cfg. Wordpad and Word treat the file as text and it isn't.

Stop the service, copy the downloaded client.cfg to the FAH directory and edit it with notepad, changing the user name and being sure not to delete the hard return symbols (little rectangles). You might also want to change local= to 0 if you want to know how many WUs your instance has completed. Restart the service.

local is updated by the client each time a wu is completed and turned it.

You will also see the number posted in fahlog.txt after a completed wu is turned in :

Code:
[04:50:58] + Results successfully sent
[04:50:58] Thank you for your contribution to Folding@Home.
[04:50:58] + Number of Units Completed: 52
You can put any integer value you want in there, but 0 makes the most sense for a new instance

I am guessing if you leave the line out altogether that the client will create it when it turns in the first wu - i have never tried it.

The client will update the client.cfg at the beginning and end I think of each wu ... i found this out when i was playing with machineid early on and couldn't figure out why my value of 9 was being changed to 1.

The console will write out the client.cfg with the values it is using ... so if you put invalid entries into it, it will replace them with defaults.

I always use noteTab when editing client.cfg http://notetab.com/ ... it also makes it easier to read.

The official stanford supported way of creating a client.cfg file is to run the client with the -config or -configonly switches - it will prompt you for all the values you can set and will show you what all the defaults are.

I keep a template copy of client.cfg on my main rig which i copy (and modify if necessary - normally just machineid) when setting up a new folding instance. If you use wedo's often, just update his client.cfg with your username and change local to local=0.

A few folks have gotten their team/username borked in the past with notepad ... and some have only noticed the extra id/missing wus after many thousands of points

The username & team# can be changed anytime prior to the wu being turned in.
Make sure the client is stopped before changing client.cfg tho or the console will not read your changes ... it will just overwrite them.

If, after installing the one click, you use the Stanford config program to edit client.cfg, be sure you answer no to install as a service. If you answer yes, the FAH service will be started twice, once with -srvany (Wedo) and again with -svcstart (Stanford) and things will get really screwy as each instance writes to the same files.
