I have a lot of 939 machines at work running single cores. I went for 939 because I thought it should be fairly future proof but now AM2 is out the 939 x2 chips seem to be drying up....

Anyone know if they are actually going to run out soon?

What, run out of chips? You can still find socket A chips fairly easily from what I recall looking at on newegg a few weeks ago. I may be wrong though.

s754 chips are still available, I know that. So I wouldn't worry.

It's very hard to think/do futureproof when dealing with computer hardware, since things can change very rapidly within months.

yep, there seem to be lots in the USA but notmost Uk are "awaiting stock" or out. I was thinking that because there is some crosover on the dies that go into 939 and am2 that AMD may be puting most of the cores into AM2 rather than 939. Or are the cores not identical?
