ARG How do you fix this?

Okay.. so I get my new video card.. install it.. install drivers and such.. and then after installing it all I realize my ssound isnt working.. and Iv tried everything.. when I try to reinstall the sound blaster driver it says the card isnt on my PC at all.. anndd when I try to move it to another PCI slot I get the same effect.. I know i tcant be a power issue.. because I can run games without any instability issues.. Im using onboard sound, which I do not like at all.. Eh.. but yeah.. If anyone knows a solution to this let me knooowww.. The sound card is my sound blaster live 7.1 live 24 bit.

Try the card in another PC?

Tried completely uninstalling all the drivers before reinstalling?

Make sure the card isnt muted? All connections are OK?

Hm, Iv tried all of that.. There wasnt any sound card drivers on it after I installed my video card.. (or device manager didnt show any) And I tried to install the latest SB live drivers but I got the whole.. this product is not on your system message.. so I switched PCI slots.. same thing happened.. so finally I just turne don the onboard and installed drivers for it and it works but eh.. Iv also looked at the IRQ stuff in my bios and all of them are reserved to PCI devices so I dont think that is a problem..

Open up your case, see if the card is seated all the way in, press on the whole card to seat it better. I have a habit of not pushing them in all the way. Might work for you.

I wonder if a reinstall of windows would help?.. is there anyway to tell if the bios has picked up the sound card?

A re-install will most likely fix it if it is a driver/software issue. Download a linux livecd and see if that works with your sound.

I had the same problem. Are you running x64?

Try downloading the generic drivers on creative.com and then install the ones from the disk... Thats what I had to do.
