Moniter flickers and gets garbled

Hi all I have a MSI 6600gt, and for the last few weeks my monter flashes on and off and it can get very garbled up to the point that the system stalls. I took out the old nVidia graphics and install the 93.71 version. I have gone to MSI and install their drivers but as soon as I do that, the screen messes up right away.

With the 93.71 graphics it still works just that for video I cannot do a full screen or resize it properly and the screen flashes now and then. What is wrong with my graphics card?

A friend of mine was having a similar problem with a computer that was hooked up to his tv, he thought that it was his video card (also a 6600 series).... we reinstalled the newest drivers and it was still bad, but after a clean install of windows the problem was taken care of. I'm not sure what the problem was in the end but its fixed now.

I don't know if this will help, but its worth a try....

So it could just be that something in windows is messing up? Oh man thats gonna suck if its that. Thanks wonder if there is anything else that could be done aside a reinstall?

I had that issue but it was lack of power on my 7900GT... Try using a different card and see if it could be a mobo issue or a monitor issue.

I updated the BIOS on the motherboard and did fresh re-installs of the drivers. Its not doing it any more, but now my computer is having trouble booting up and such. Just a few minutes ago it was resetting at the boot up screen. I changed a few settings and its working fine now, but I think I have to do a repair install of WinXP.
