i am back and churning

after a few days for pulling down rubbish scores, the rigs are back up and running....8122 points last night after a low point of 3299!! , the 2 conroe laptops that i had in the office have now gone offsite, so i am relient on their new owners keeping them on 24hours a day (not likely!!), so i have lost 4 cores from the total this week..

anyone else suffering from these huge swings?

GPU and SMP clients are doing lovely :

GPU - 2d clocks on a X1900XT - 8 minutes a frame
[12:34:16] Completed 27
[12:42:31] Completed 28
[12:50:34] Completed 29
[12:58:49] Completed 30

SMP - MacPro 2.8 quad core - 6 minutes a frame
[12:51:50] Completed 1950000 out of 5000000 steps (39 percent)
[12:55:49] Timered checkpoint triggered.
[12:57:24] Writing local files
[12:57:24] Completed 2000000 out of 5000000 steps (40 percent)
[13:01:24] Timered checkpoint triggered.
[13:02:59] Writing local files
[13:02:59] Completed 2050000 out of 5000000 steps (41 percent)

pulled a couple of DGromacs this morning, apart from that i am drowning in Patty_melts, not even the mac G5's are pulling ribos!!

so yes im having swings too

although my last down swing was offset by my recent upgrades and additions.

I've been up and down myself. No worries though, still making headway.

I kind of get bothered by it...esp with only 4 crunching atm, and only about 300ppd max, waiting on the WU's to finish for days on end seems to be something like this

thanks mate.....

i have taken to drastic measures.....a few weeks ago i installed a GPU client in a X2 4400 and disabled a core to feed the GPU client as suggested.

i have fiddled with the settings tonight, and set 2 CPU's at 50% and the GPU at 100%, seems to add 1 minute a frame to the GPU, will be interesting to see what the CPU's can do

***refresh that...back down to 8 minutes a frame once logged out of the pc.

anyone have any advise on this, is it better to run 2 cores at 50% or run 1 at full pelt and disable the other??
