My sons computer, it currently is an AMD 3800 w/1Gig of RAM (nknown what type) he has a vid card and sound card also unknown. He plays CS and games like that and also likes to record his own music (guitar, keyboards, ect.) What would be a moderatly priced upgrade from his current setup?
Thanx!

If you're looking to upgrade a gamer then the vid card is much more important than the CPU. At this point I'd wait for the DX10 cards, which are due out soon.

If he does a lot of mixing and editing of sound files (instead of just recording) then he could benefit from an X2 but might loose a little gaming power. Since it's already a 939 MB w/1 Gb of RAM all you'd really need would be a new chip.

Which is more important ...?
