Now that is a switch to remember!!! not even one hour had gone by and you had deleted linux! LOL

I take it from the 'turn-around' that you had not used a test system to get yourself used to linux, a mistake. I have used both linux and win (98 and 2000) for the last 6 years, I'm not quite ready to drop windows altogether, though I'm getting closer every day.

It was a struggle right from the install... it erased everything on my backup drive too... Urgh.... I'll try it again some other time... like when I have the cd's and can take the time to partition correctly to dual boot.

Congratulations! Installing Linux via DL'd files isn't easy. When you get the moxie to give the Mighty L a try in the future, you're already ahead of complete newbies. Mandrake Personal Edition was $30 the last time I looked. You can get the GPL edition for about $5 from www.cheapbytes.com . Buying the GPL edition of various Linux's is cheap, and you have the CD(s)--a big plus. The drawback is that the folks that sweated to put the distro together don't get paid. Sure Linux is free, but "free" doesn't feed the talented people that work to produce a distribution.

Should the Grand Negus get even fatter while Linux professionals starve? ~$80 for SuSE 7.3 Professional Edition, which puts far more power in your hands than ~$149-$199 Win 2K Pro-or XP Pro.
