freezes without warning

Question freezes without warning


Im At My Wits End With This Computer.

Asus P3B-F BIOS 1007
C-900 @ 600, 900, or 1200 on generic SUPER SLOCKET 3?
256Mb SimpleTech Memory @ 66, 100, or 133 cas 2 or 3 in dimm0
AGP slot - Inno3D GeForce 2 MX W/ GeForce 2 MX 400 Bios
PCI 1 - Empty
PCI 2 - Maxtor IDE 100 Card
PCI 3 - SBLive X-Gamer
PCI 4 - 3COM 905B
PCI 5 - Empty
ISA 1 - Empty
ISA 2 - Jaton Modulator 56
PS2 Keyboard Generic
PS2 Microsoft Optical Explorer
USB 1 - 3COM Home Connect Camera PRO
USB 2 - Thrustmaster FireStorm Dual Analog
250 Watt PSU

PCI 100 Card
Primary Master - WD 40gb 5400
Secondary Master - Maxtor 40gb 5400

Onboard IDE
Primary Slave - Creative 12x DVD
Secondary Slave - Acer 12/8/24 CD-RW

The freezes happen on the internet usually i have gutted the computer to nothing and it will still freeze.

Someone got and idea whats going on.

I would say mayb your cpu temps are too high. I'm also looking suspiciously at your SBLive. Well more at the LiveWare than the card itself.

which os are you running cause i know 98 se had a habit of freezing on me whenever i was on the internet

Sounds like a power supply problem. Try putting another one in it and see if that solves the problem. I'll bet it does. Good Luck.

Still freezing even w/help...


Already switched psu..no good.

Running win98 se started having probs when upgrading from p2-350 @ 466. If i go back it runs fine.

Soundblaster live shares no irqs Even when running with only hard drive, video, memory, cpu , modem, motherboard, psu, keyboard and mouse.

CPU temps never above 40 c and is low as 21 c.

Cpu is overclocked to 1200 mhz @ 1.8v

Please offer me some more help! Thanks for everything

i had a freezing problem with an asus board. Turned out to be the bios. Updated it to a new version and the board is solid as a rock

1007.001 Bios Installed (newest bios)

tried winME, win98, and win98se

still a couple of freezes later no go.

does anyone own a thrustmaster firestorm
