Wondering if I should upgrade or not

Hello all,

I'm thinking about getting my rig prepped for Vanguard when that gets released in January. Tell me what y'all think about my current setup and what areas I should strongly look at upgrading so I would be able to run smoothly. My budget is around $1000

Antec Sonata II case
Asus M2N SLI-Deluxe motherboard
AMD X2 3800+
Corsair DDR2 (1GBx2)
ATI Radeon x1650 XT 512mb
WD 250GB SATA2

I'll be mostly using it for MMORPG gaming. I'd like to get the full benefit of all the graphics turned up with little lag. My internet connection is fine with Fiber Optic.

I looked at the benchmark tests of the ATI 1650 and they are quite low in comparison to what is out there now. Would it be viable to go up to the ati x1900 or maybe the 8800 nvidia?

The video card is the weak link but you have a better than average machine. I found this in the Vanguard FAQ http://www.vanguardsoh.com/faq.php?e...ogy%2FMin+Spec

"It's too early to announce Vanguard's hardware, memory, or storage requirements, but our current guess at a 'min' spec is a machine with a 2.4 ghz processor, a graphics card with 128M of RAM, and between 512megs and 1 gig of system memory. Higher end systems will be able to take advantage of certain graphics and display options, but it is very important to us that Vanguard be a game that can be played and enjoyed on an 'average' gaming machine. Also, keep in mind that faster computers and graphics cards, plus the price of RAM, continue to go down -- with our planned release date being first quarter 2007, a machine that will run Vanguard well will not be a costly one.

If you have $430 to spend on a vid card then the 8800GTS is a good choice
