Unhappy CPU for Quanta 09B8 Motherboard

I have a HP DV1010US with a Quanta 09B8 motherboard. I currently have an Intel Celeron M 1.4Ghz processor with a 400mhz FSB. I'm looking into upgrading my notebook and I was wondering how fast I can make it.(e.g. Fastest Processor my motherboard can handle) Also does the speed of the FSB matter? I searched all over and I can't seem to find any helpfull info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Marcus Herrington

The fsb does matter, older chipsets won't support higher fsb. Try to find out what chipset it has that will help me to find out what is the fastest cpu you can put in there.

How do you figure that the cpu isn't upgradeable from the link, I might be missing something.

Also that chipset only supports 400mhz bus or 100mhz fsb.

AVG - So can I uprgrade my cpu to any speed as long as it has a 400fsb or is there a limit to which my motherboard can handle?
Thanks,
Marcus Herrington

There is another thing you should look for which is the core the chip is made of, sometimes a bios update is needed to support a new core and most companies like HP, Dell and others aren't too worried about releasing bioses to support a new core, so just make sure it is of the same core and 400mhz bus and it should work fine. Also to make sure you can upgrade the cpu at all open the laptop up and see if it is socket or soldered to the mobo(some compact notebooks have soldered cpus) I haven't seen any of these myself but I've heard of them. You can always call or e-mail HP they are more then willing to sell you an overpriced upgrade cpu, you don't have to buy from them but you can get an idea of what are the options available to you based on what they offer you.
