How do you keep track?

Ok so I have about 350 DVD's currently and want to find a way to catalog them without typing each and every single name. Anyone know of a way using the UPC or similar to do it?

Using Google I have found a few but I was wondering if anyone had done this before and knew that X program is better then Y program.

Have not found anything I have liked so far, keep planning to just type everything in one day, but it is a daunting task, after christmas I bet my collection will break the 500 DVD mark

I use an Excel file. Not the prettiest, but it works.
You could use Access and put in all kinds of fields and then sort them however you wanted (genre, length, actors, etc).

the best way to catalogue your collection is to link each dvd to an imdb # at imdb.com. The # is the last 6 digits on the link: e.g. 0449010 in http://imdb.com/title/tt0449010/

once you have each dvd linked to an imdb #, you can pretty much take your list to any catalogue program and it will grab all of the information from the imdb.com page.

personally, i use ant movie catalogue since it allows for a great degree of customization.

I also recommend Ant Movie Catalog, in my opinion it is the best free movie database app out there.

I suggest spending a few clams and getting an automated system for yourself. They are stackable and can manage and store your cd/dvd's neatly and can retrieve them faster than you could manually.

They connect via USB and all the titles are displayed on your PC any way you want to list them.

They range in price from around $65 to $120 and vary in storage, the best hold 150+
