Socket 939 Vs AM2...which one?

Been a long time since I've touched the inside of my computer and it's time for an upgrade. I'm wondering if AM2 is better/more modern than 939. Whatever I build will be around for 2 years before I get rid of it so I'd like to get something that will still be passable when the time comes around to sell it off. Cost is a concern, ~$200 for RAM, CPU and mobo.

If you plan to buy new Ram then you might as well go AM2 for support of DDR2.

go am2 some of the am2 lower end processors are also cheaper than there equal in 939 and ddr2 would be a bump up from ddr

If cost is a concern go am2. you can get a sempron cpu to start you off and then you can move up from there.
