Finally results for IHS removal of Opteron 165

I removed the IHS after having done a before and after test for XP120 flattening and lapping.

Full load before/after in celsius (case config, air flow, ambient temps same (hot))
Core0: 54/49 -5
Core1: 67/52 -15
Mobo CPU sensor: 40/38 -2

I thought I killed the Opt when I did that, because I first tried mounting without any mounting bracket modification. The system would shut off about half a second after turning it on.

I knicked the corner of one of the resistors & on the outer edge I dug into the Opteron PCB so copper was exposed. I thought that ****ed it up.

On impulse I turned it on once and pressed down hard on the HSF the whole time. It booted to the LANparty logo & shut off after a few seconds. So I knew it was just in need of proper mount.

What happened to yours?
