ok, actually I did make it work(after some troubleshooting)

so the raptor drive has a clean install of windows xp on it. brand new fresh, with drivers installed.

now what I want to do, is temporarily back up selected files from my old drive onto it.

format older drive, clearing off the old xp install.

copy the files back onto old drive that is now storage.

however, when I plugged my old IDE drive back in, I cannot get both drives to recognize(or to boot to the raptor instead of the old IDE either)

first I guess my noobest question is, can I have sata and IDE together? I sure hope so... and if so, what kinda bios settings do I need to be tinkering with exactly? I tried removing the HDD-0 from the boot list, but then it booted to nothing at all. only way to get the raptor to boot is to physicly unplug the IDE drive(what I did when I installed the raptor OS)

Yes you can have SATA and PATA at the same time with no problem. Your boot order might be changing when you plug the PATA drive in, so I'd go into the BIOS and make sure that the order is correct.
