its onboard sound on a DFI lanparty ultra II.

its an ac97 chip.

so I installed the drivers, device manager shows it enabled and working. but no sound.

however when I boot to my old hard drive, with its complete install, works fine. so I know the hardware is good.

the driver is the most recent I can find from dfi's site and realtek. checked the volume control, no muted channels.

Im not understanding how its possible.
