FFDShow

Ok so after setting it up fromt he guide I got here, I have a small problem. My movie will play say 5 seconds then stop for 5 and keeps doing it. I also tried PowerDvd 7 and nothing happened with it. When ever I tried to start a movie with powerdvd 7 it would load and just sit there. I could walk away form 5 minutes come back and play time would still be at 00:00.

Ok say I have a video that was done in 640 x 480 and I wanted to watch it at 1600 x 1200. In FFDshow what option would I start messing with to get the image a little clearer?

have to read THIS POST?

what you basically want to do on upscaling a video is to (not in particular order) resize, noise reduce, sharpen, (sometimes) deinterlace. just be sure don't overdo it as it could also give your negative effect (like over sharpening).

oh, as for your problem, try to use Zoomplayer to play and enable OBD to see if you are dropping frame and cpu usage. btw, what kinda spec is the machine? I would think it's the machine not powerful enough to do what you are trying to do.

e.g. on my old HTPC, 3.2c stock, if I enable full screen deblock + sharpening in Divx, the (ripped) movie will be more like a slide show!! it plays, then stop for a couple sec, then play or jump to a frame, then pause again. that's a sign saying that the cpu couldn't keep up your post process work. just do deblock w/out sharpen, it plays fine then.

An Abit AN8 Sli, x2 3800, 2 gigs OCZ PC3200, and a eVga 7900gt ko. I have full screen deblock + sharpening on in Divx, the issue also happens when using WMP and ZoomPlayer.
