Gaming Mouse

Hey all. It's that time again. I've eviscerated the buttons on my Logitech MX1000 mouse, and I'm looking for a replacement and a good mousepad.

I've no preference as to brand, wired/wireless, or laser/optical. I just want a solid gaming mouse and mousepad.

I looked at the G5, but I dont like that it only has one side button.

Anyone? Thanks all.

Off topic, but how did you like your MX1000? I'm seriously considering one of those.

I REALLY really like the G7 mouse. I do have a Creative Fatality one coming in, but the G7 has been my fav so far. Only drawbacks are the fact that it "feels" a bit flimsy, but IS solid.

I was hesitant about the G5 and its lack of a forward button. I miss it, but not that much. Other than that I really love it and its on-the-fly sensitivity changer.

I also was concerned about the G5 not having a forward button, but to be honest I don't miss it all that much, and I love it. Regarding a mouse pad I have a Ratpadz GS that I love, highly recommended.

I loved the MX1000, I bought it when it was brand new, and I just recently killed the left button on it. The thing has served me well.

Thanks all for the input.

Edit: I just played with my friend's Razer Copperhead. I dont think I'm a fan of the side buttons.

Now it's between the G5, G7, and MX518. Anyone?

mx518. It's a mouse.. you dont need it to be rediculous..

I didnt want to spend alot of money but I needed something better than my old wireless.. I picked up the 518 and it was the best decision. For 35$ its a damn good gaming mouse.. the gamer makes the mouse, the mouse doesnt make the gamer.

The mouse options that you have recived are good, but you might want to take a look at the MX revolution. As for your mouse pad that kinda depends on what you are used to. Some like cloth, some like the hard plastic, some something in between. Some like wood, glass, and even steel. I myself cant stand the hard plastic mouse pads and have basically always used a cloth pad of some sort. I currently have an XTrac Pro cloth mouse pad that im using with my MX 1000. It is lasting very well and not taking hardly any wear and i put it through alot of hours of mousing a day.

I dont like to spend a ton of money on a mouse pad and XTrac had the cloth one i wanted for around $10, and i just checked newegg and they have the hard plastic one for $8. Link below.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817114171

These pads are on the thin side but they dont move on your desk. Maybe after 8 straight hours of gaming i have had it move a quarter of an inch.

I have the mx518 and the G5. They are both really good mice. I like the feel of the mx better than the g. But me, being intellectually impared, I use the g5 because of the speed led indicators on the mouse.

I've got the G5 and mx518 also. What speed indicators you say? I generally can't see my mouse...

I'll say one thing though... spilled beer is easier to clean off of the cord of the mx518. If you drop the mx518 you just put it back on the table, if you drop the G5 you'd have to chase after the stupid weight cartridge and any weights that happen to fly out also.

Also... G5 feels like it has dirt all over it...

I have the G5 and I will never get another mouse so long as I live. I will mod when they get rid of USB. While it is kinda gimmicky with the weights and stuff, the scroll wheel that clicks left and right is my favorite feature. Good for navigating tabs in Firefox, plus I love the side button. But, I have small-ish hands and if you aren't right handed, it sucks. I like the feel of the plastic myself, but I'm weird

I just got a G5, but I have a question.

The scroll wheel makes a clicking noise in one direction, but not in the other. It's kind of annoying. Anyone else having this problem?

Another vote for MX518... amazing mouse. Anything beyond it is overkill and dont think it would effect your performance if you would get a G5/7 instead. I think I was better with my old optical logitech lol. Anyways the MX518 has a much better feel in my opinion than the G5 or G7... the weight thing is just alittle "too" much for me lol.

mayo, mine makes a little clicky type noise scrolling either way, but noise doesn't bother me ( headphones + ultra panaflo going full speed 24/7, I'm probably legally deaf.....what? )
