I recently had mine do something similar. I opened it up and reseated the SATA connection. Then plugged it in and it worked just fine. So i assume it had come a little loose (Though I don't know how since it doesn't hardly move, just drive vibration I guess)

i tried takin it out and then reseating and stuff but no luck, what happens is when it turns on it spins up and sounds like its trying to read it but it cant so it restarts itself and then it just shuts itself off

i highly doubt its a power issue considering it plugs directly into the wall and i can hear it do a full spin up. it just sounds like it cant read the disc or something because it skips back and forth and then it restarts and then shuts off cause it cant find anything *Sigh*

You might double check the power. It's possible the 5v is spinning up the drive but the 3.3v isn't there or isnt working properly, so the drive's electronics aren't working right.
