HD will not defrag all the way

My Hd will not defrag all the way.It is only world of warcraft files. I've tried other defrag software but no success. Any ideas? My Hd will defrag other files, just not the wow files.

How big are the WoW files, and what app are you using to defrag? It could be that the WoW files are just too big to fit into available contiguous space without condensing everything else and some defrag utilities don't do that very well (or do it at all). Also, how many fragments are the files in when the defrag finishes?

If you haven't already try getting a trial demo of O&O Defrag (v. 8.5). It's an excellent program and tends to work better in my experience than Diskeeper and other defragging programs I've tried.

These files are about 3.6G. Alot, I know. I've tried diskeeper,it organized all fragmented files into one big piece. I never used o&o, I might try it next.

I've had Diskeeper leave DVD images in 2-3 fragments before, but I had a lot less than 50% of the drive available (though it was more than 20GB). Is the system accessing the WoW files during the defragment? or is WoW completely shut down? Any files in use will not get properly defragmented.

O&O worked!!! Thanks guys. I tried diskeeper and Vopt8 they could not move large files. I don't know why. All diskeeper did was move fragmented fies in a big fragmented lump. Vopt8 did about what windows defrag did. Just for FYI...O&O rules.
