Who is going to be better, faster, and cheaper Q3 of 2007. AMD fell behind but i think they have something going on but intel is just so good right now i think they wont improve a whole lot,but then again you never know. What do you think?

Intel's C2D prices will fall in April (so rumor says). I can't see AMD beating that with a bat anytime soon.

Beyond that, Q4 '07: Intel's 45nm will OWN! With the latest development in Substrate for the Chips to prevent leakage, Intel should have a early jump on AMD's 45nm process IMO. NTM Intel's onboard cache keeps growing and growing and growing

2007 belongs to Intel, as does Q1 of 2008. Beyond that - time will tell (but I see some writing on the wall )

I wish AMD the best in their ventures, and I KNOW they will continue to be successful, but Intel just has more going for them as of recently. Competition is fantastic - so we are all happy (AMD and Intel fanboys have a reason to rejoyce - some more than others ).

Bottom line: Who cares as long as their rigs are FAST FAST FAST...

"The Elbow" is VERY near!!!!

There is no way to honestly tell. Competition is always a game of cloak and shadows, and somebody always has a hidden ace.

Up until AMD can release Barcelona aka K8L mid year, their offerings will pretty much suck compared to Intel. And even if their offering is competitive, it's still open how OCable their offering is compared to stock.

Intel pretty much has nothing really new all year, at least for overclockers: they already run their CPUs at 1333FSB. 45nm might start to show up very late in Q4 or maybe not

It'll continue to go back and forth. When AMD released the Tbird it was much better...then intel took it back with the northy, and AMD topped it with A64 and X2 (which was a pretty long reign) and now Intel has C2D.

Will it really matter?

Those that want Intel will buy Intel, those that want AMD will buy AMD and those that want the best performance for that time will buy whatever chip is doing the best at that time. Everyone will feel that they have chosen the chip best suited for their needs. Time passes and then the whole rigamarole starts all over again. Never ending cycle really, unless the one or the other chip maker throws in the towel. Then the best will be whatever the makers bother to put out.

There is an article about it on the front page... http://overclockers.com/tips01099/

But that's a bit like asking who is going to win the next world cup.

my only concern about AMD is their continuing downward financial spin. that can only last for so long. meanwhile intel performs amazingly (from a financial stand point).

i think that in another couple years unless AMD comes up with something extremely nice in either their GPU branch (ATI) or their CPU branch they could be in a world of hurt.

Disclaimer: I'm not against AMD, I'm posting this on my trusty Venice, just giving my opinion

I've always been an Intel guy, but I'm inclined to give AMD a try since I need my power only in games because for other uses, even a Celeron was enough. Thus, I think AMD is more of a game player's friend than Intel is, especially as prices are better. Still, so far Intel has scored some good points by excellent processor-to-memory exchange, memory bandwidth and the like. We'll see. I won't shy away from AMD when I have to replace my mobo anyway. Chances are there will be an Intel-comparable product being sold for half the Intel price by AMD at that time.
