Recommendations on a ..............

good mobo w/ a PCI frequency divider? I currently have a brand new BH6 sitting under my desk and not sure wether to build on it or save it for later and just pick up a newer mobo that has a divider. This will be my first build up and really want to take advantage of what oc'ing has to offer. I know the BH6 will handle it but the limiting factor is the PCI frequencies. My current parts:

BH6
Celeron 700
Gainward/Card Expert GeForce Ti 500
WD 40 @ 7200
SB Live Dolby 5.1
Overclockerz 512 MB RAM (256x2)

I guess my main concern is stressing out the cards! I ain't rich and would get killed by the wife if I fry my $130 video card that I had to save for!

TIA

Well, the BH6 does have PCI dividers (1/2 and 1/3), just not a 1/4 divider. You should be fine with at least 75 FSB using that Celeron 700, since it runs at a default 66 MHz FSB. That is an easy overclock and should yield a total of 788 MHz. To take advantage of the 1/3 divider, you'll have to use 100 FSB, but that's really pushing the limit with that CPU, even if it's a cC0 stepping and even if you have excellent cooling.

I hear you on that

and that's what i meant, 1/4 divider. As far as my original plan for the BH6, I was going to try and crank that puppy up to 100 FSB and try to get the 700 to atleast a gig with an ALPHA cooler and voltage at 1.85, but that will be put on hold! So any recomendations on a new mobo will surely be appreciated!

My point is that with your C-700, you don't need the 1/4 divider. You only need that starting at about 115 to 120 FSB, which there is no way that C-700 will ever do anything close to that. It would be an incredibly exceptional CPU to even reach 100 FSB, and if it did, the PCI bus would be perfectly in spec with the 1/3 divider.

on my BH-6 i could underclock the AGP speed by setting the AGP divider to 2/3 when i was at 83mhz fsb on my celly 400@500

You should be able to do anything 1/1AGPBUS to 100FSB.

Celeron's using 66mhz FSB shouldn't be using a 1/4 divider...

As mentioned it won't get to above probably 110 and 110/3=37 So its about good PCI Bus speed.

What version is your BH6, 1.0x or 1.1? I think the version 1.1 has a 1/4 pci divider choice but I know for a fact that the version 1.0x doesn't. If it is the version 1.1, then go ahead and get you a P3 1000E and a good slotket and you have a decent chance of making 1.33/133 fsb. BTW, the Celeron 1.2 is a Tualatin core proc and the only way I know of to run it on a BH6 is with the Powerleap adapter, which won't overclock worth a dam*.
