Either bfg geforce 7600 gt (256)
or
SAPPHIRE 100166L Radeon X1650XT (256)

From reading this review of the ATI board at sharky's :http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/videocards/article.php/3211_3653491__9

It says: The overall performance of the ASUS EAX1650XT 256MB, especially as it relates to the GeForce 7600 GT, is highly dependant on the game or application benchmark used. Like the other Radeon X1000 series cards before it, the X1650 XT is tuned towards high-end SM3.0 performance, at the expense of greater pixel-pushing power. The GeForce 7600 GT 256MB is more of a hybrid design, providing mainstream performance across the spectrum of 3D games. But this also means that with higher-end SM3.0 games like F.E.A.R. and Company of Heroes, the ASUS EAX1650XT 256MB will have a performance advantage, while still falling short on older or less-robust games. It's been this way since the ATI introduced the Radeon X1000 graphics line, and the ASUS implementation of the Radeon X1650 XT has the same set of pros and cons

I'd love to hear opinions about which card is best for FSX

Thanks!

I'm looking to upgrade our two systems to AMD dual core and am looking for suggestions for vid cards. These two card were the two that I've seen suggested from other posts but I don't know enough to decide. I'm not sure how the Radeon X1650XT compares to the GeForce 7600GT. One system is for gaming and the other will be used for photoshop (and some video editing).

Mr fri click the link in my original post. After finding out FSX is sm2.0 shader i decided to use the 7600.

At full load both of them will be rather loud, but at normal running speeds they should both be fairly quiet... then again I run basically silent on my gpu so more than a whisper sounds loud to me..

I got a 7600GT used on the forums for 80, one of my best purchase decisions ever! (The fan is a tad bit loud though.. but still.. 80 dollar price tag for such great performace is well worth a jet plane fan.)

the 7600 GT is a dog in FS X, I got an OC 615/1400 7900gs and its still chugging on mine with lightblooming on

I recently got a 7600GT on Newegg for ~$90 after $50 MIR. I'll see how good BFG is about rebates.

I also got a Sapphire X1950GT for my daughter's new C2D build. So far so good and it's supposed to beat a 7900GT.
