After nVidia launched the Geforce 7900GS, the lower price chip set solution
for high end graphic card applications, the market was really impacted in
September 2006. In these months, I have released 4 product test reports of
Geforce 7900GS products, which were from MSI, ELSA, Galaxy and Leadtek.

In above my released test report, the default C/M value of Galaxy product is
540/1500MHz, which is much higher than the default C/M 450/1320MHz of
the other 3 products.

This time, I want to test the latest ELSA 7900GS over clock version, which is
default C/M as 540/1500MHz. Let’s find out the difference of the former released 7900GS.

The default C/M value of ELSA GLADIAC 790GS PH2 256B3 2DT RH is much
higher than other 7900GS products. The performance of ELSA GLADIAC 790
GS PH2 256B3 2DT RH is approaching even higher than 7900GT series
products.

Overclock to 676/1730MHz when using VGA function. (It is really surprising
high performance proven among 7900GS series products)

It supports great over clock feature. The extreme C/M value is much higher
than the 7900GS products I have tested before. In above software testing
environment, the performance is very approaching to 7900GTX. For the entry
level model of 7900 series, it is really excellent

Compared with the 7900GS products I have tested :

MSI 7900GS default C/M value : 450/1320 => Extreme C/M value : 590/1580

Leadtek 7900GS default C/M value : 450/1320 => Extreme C/M value : 595/1600

ELSA 7900GS default C/M value : 450/1320 => Extreme C/M value : 563/1600

Galaxy 7900GS default C/M value : 540/1500 => Extreme C/M value : 620/1650

ELSA 7900GS PH2 default C/M value : 560/1500=> Extreme C/M value : 676/1730

Need For Speed Carbon

The performance when the game is running
Hardware setup :
DPI : 1280X1024
The grade of detail : high
Others are default value

The performance of ELSA GLADIAC 790GS PH2 256B3 2DT drops to 450/1320
MHz, which is the same performance as other 7900GS products.

The performance is much different when different C/M value setup even using
the same VGA card.
It seems that ELSA GLADIAC 790GS PH2 256B3 2DT is much better than
other 7900GS products in the market.

ELSA GLADIAC 790GS PH2 256B3 2DT

Advantage
1. High quality cooler supports high cooling performance in silence
2. High default C/M value : 560/1500Mhz
3. Support great over clock feature
4. Support much higher performance than the other 7900GS products even using default setting

Disadvantage
1. The selling price is higher than other 7900GS products

At the present time, nVidia 7900GS is supposed to compete with ATi 1950
PRO in the same price segment but the performance still fall behind.
This 7900GS over clock version product improves not only nVidia 7900GS C/P
value but excellent performance, which can compete with 7900GT and even
approaching to 7900GTX…

ELSA GLADIAC 790GS PH2 256B3 2DT is much different than other 7900GS
products, with higher quality components and design.

Before nVidia unveil her entry level 8 series product, 7900GS is still the best
choice in her mid-level products:)

Who the hell cares?? nVida is already coming out with there midrange 8 series cards soon, the 8600 and such. Plus the 320mb 8800 GTS is only 299 at the egg and cheaper other places.

Also, who the hell is ELSA?? I never heard of them. And they got one ugly *** card.

um wow way to nock someones review that they obviously spent quite some time on. Elsa makes mobos and graphics cards mostly for mainland asia. They are currently looking to break into english speaking markets such as canada, great britian, and the USA.

The overclock that this card got looks like it might be due to higher voltage as I doubt that the card would get that on stock reference volts. My 7900gs only hit in the low 600's core on stock volts like all of the other cards mentioned in the review which leads me to believe that they may have overvolted the card. Also does anyone know who makes that cooler? I cant for the life of me remember, however I do know that many of that companies products look like bugs. I bios of the card would be interesting as would an atempt to flash to full pipes like the BFG cards can do.

ouch :/ thats a tad rude.

FWIW iv heard of ELSA - my old geforce2 ultra was a Gladiac model - was a sweet card too! and dont discredit the 79xx series cards yet, here in the uk theyre miles cheaper than the 8 series (320mb 8800gts = £200.... 7900gs = £120 or lower). Maybe US prices dont reflect this, but its still an interesting card to hear about anyways.

windwithme - do you know if theyre likely to hit US/UK scenes with anything 8xxx series flavoured?
