Hey guys,

I've recently come into possesion of an unknown brand ATI 9800 Pro. I slapped the thermalright V1 cooler i had lying around on it, and seems to run and game good... my question is, i can't use this thing myself... and my girlfriend is currently on a ti4200.

Would the 9800 pro be an upgrade for her? or should she just keep the ti4200? I'm lost since when i started following video cards, PCI-E was just coming out, and 6800 Ultras were awesome.

Her system:

Asus P4SP-MX
1 Gb generic DDR400
P4M 3.2/533/512
80Gb WD800JB

She does the Second Life thing alot, as well as play a bit of Diablo II: LOD, The Sims/2, and Sid Meiers Pirates!

QFT.

As already said... MUCH better card, and DX9 ;)

If you only know nVidia, think of the differnce between a 6600GT and a 7900GT...

That's a bit of an exaggeration. 6600GT <<<<<< 7900GT while Ti4200 <<< 9800PRO.

In nVidia terms, a 9800PRO is roughly equal to an FX 5950 Ultra. Going from a Ti4200 to a 9800PRO is like going from a 6600GT to a 6800GT, or from a 6800GT to a 7900GT.
