X850 Pro memory clock question, please help!

Hey, ive been reading up on unlocking my X850 pro card to 16 pipes and OC'ing it, etc. I realized that when I run ATI tool, it says my card is running @ 500 mhz gpu frequency and 500 mhz memory frequency, but my card is supposed to be 500/1000. Does anyone have any clue why this is? if I try to run my card anywhere near 1000 it shuts off.
