As far as i know that board has the 955 chipset which will not support any C2D processors.

That board has the 975X chipset and does not support the Allendales or Conroes. Sorry bud.
It is a rather nice board if you want to overclock the Presler or previous chips though. It comes with a bit of a steep learning curve though. Do a quick search in the mobo section and you'll see a few of them.
One major problem, which has a fix, is the Vcore droopage under load is quite substantial. There is an easy to do Vdroop mod in the stickies.
Another problem is the Marvell RAID controller doesn't like many optical drives. The ICH7R handles them quite nicely though. The Marvell used to act up with other drives and not RAID drives up either, but that is fixed in the most recent BIOS available from Support.Asus.com
The Marvell will also show up in XP as not having a good driver. Once you load the driver from Asus's website it works fine.
