How about creating a "New Member Welcome Center" under Overclocking subforum

Perhaps we could add a "New Member welcome center" subforum under the Overclocking forum (which perhaps isn't properly named, but that's not my issue) which contains:

Forum FAQs and Guidelines
New Member Welcome Center
Overclocking and Computer FAQs
Front Page Discussions

Under which we could have a user guide and/or FAQ for the ins and outs of using the forums. Something that lays out the general use of the vBulletin forums in addition to how we have things setup. I mean, I've been around here for a little while now, and I'm still discovering new things that are useful to know.
Like, until a month or two ago, I had no idea that clicking these: would take you to the new post in the thread. Or I could never figure out how to get to the list of new subscribed threads (which shows the list of your subscriptions that have changed since you last looked at them)
And actually it took me a long time before I knew what these things were:
They kinda looked like running armadillos to me and I had no idea what they meant.
Also there could be a thread for new members to post and be recognized and welcomed. Perhaps they can ask questions here if they don't understand the FAQs, etc.
And how about a thread explaining our lingo and all the terms we use (Bump, YGPM, troll, etc, etc.)
Another idea would be to list all of the unwritten rules and other things that are normally learned through use and/or error.

Before I came to OCF, I had never used a Forum and had no idea how to use them, I think having a place to learn all of this stuff could have been useful.

Anyway, I think you get what I'm trying to say here. What do you think?
I'd be happy to help gather info from the community to help create these FAQs and guides. And I know there are already some good FAQs explaining a lot of this stuff, just not quite all the details a "new to forums" user might need, so perhaps the info already here could be put in this section?

Are you attempting to make us think you are a new member sir?

Well then, we will have to welcome you the only way we know how...

jivetrky,

I think your post is about halfway there to being the definitive guide to things people should know, but didn't know how to ask. Keep logging your discoveries here. Who knows, you might yet become famous!

I'm working on a fairly in depth FAQ typed thing, which looks like it should have enough detail that my grandma could figure out how to register and use the forums, at least use them to the level to which I know how to use them. Once I get a little further, I'd like to maybe start a thread asking the other users for input in case there are things that should be in there that I don't know about

ALso, I'm not the greatest writer so it's going to take me a while to get it to where I'd like it. But hopefully when it's all done it might help at least a few people.
